The Report of PSI- ERP Management System Optimization

As everyone knows, ERP Management is one of the main management models today.
So as one of the 21st century professional EMS factories, Gilbert Chen, the CEO of PSI has founded a series of the complete P/N rules. The part numbers has thirteen numbers, and they include all of the electronic materials, assembly materials, and packing materials. These contents are described in 23 pages. With the development of our company, and with the diversification of the customers and materials, we need a more powerful ERP System to control materials. The TIPTOP System was very powerful, but it was just a common version in the beginning, and some fields in the system were unnecessary for us. At the same time, it lacked some important information. Then Gilbert showed the direction and the department managers were required to think about how to improve the program with the help of the IT Department. Especially for the Market department, as the first step of the ERP system processes, program optimization was very urgent and important.
At present stage, the Market Department makes four suggestions as follows:
  1. Optimization of basic data maintenance interface for ERP materials: This action was based upon our actual situation and demand, and it has been finished already. The purpose of the optimization is that all of the staff seek information properly and quickly, and BOM technicians work with great efficiency.
  2. Optimization of wrong parts prevention system: Because different BOM technicians or new staffs are unfamiliar with the job. They may type more characters, or less characters, even wrong characters. And the optimization can let them avoid making such mistakes.
  3. Regulating and integrating ERP part numbers, product names and specification description: We should unify part numbers, product names and specification description through the ERP system, which makes solid foundations for BOM technicians in semi-automation and automation process.
  4. Optimization of constructing and checking BOM automation: For the customers who has their own P/N, we would work through the EDI for BOM completely. BOM automation checking has entered the program testing stage, which will improve the efficiency and accuracy of the checking BOM jobs. Therefore we can shorten the time of procurement and manufacture.
Just as the poem says: April showers bring May flowers! Under the smooth, co-operative effort between each department and the IT department, our Tiptop System must become one of the best ERP Systems in the word, and PSI also will grow into a top-notch EMS company. Then we can provide better service for our customers.
