Fire Safety Seminar and First Aid Training
in the First Half of 2015

PSI conducted lecture and seminars on firesafety and first aid training in April. In order to pass correct information to company staffs, we invited lecturers from Disaster Prevention Association and Rescue Training. Their excellent lectures made colleagues have further knowledge of fire safety and CPR and first aid emergency treatments.
During CPR lecture, they demonstrated CPR life saving technique “CAB”. They also borrowed “Anne” to demonstrate the correct operation methods. Many people have learned CPR, only to find out the operation methods are very complicated and difficult to apply when encountering the emergency. After detailed explanations by the lecture, everyone seems to overcome their fear. In the past we had been familiar with “ABC” as the lifesaving CPR technique, which is by applying mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and then chest compression. The new CPR steps start with chest compression for 100 times, and then applying mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If we are able to apply fast enough chest compressions, we can keep the brain's blood circulation. This is more effective to the patients compared with the old technique.
The lecturer also indicated that many people still resist in performing mouth-to- mouth resuscitation, because they are afraid of unknown infectious disease by strangers. Therefore, new CPR method not only temporarily sustains patient’s life, but also let rescuers feel it is save enough to rescue patients and not delay the golden rescue time. But this method is not suitable for everyone: traditional CPR method still applies to newborn babies, drowning persons, and those who overdose on drugs. Although we have learned cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but I am not looking forward to using it someday. But, we should all remember these steps. When the day comes, we might successfully rescue one or more lives, and might not be the person who is being rescued.
The lecturer presented a video clip of a fire accident after a short break. The video clip let colleagues experience fearfulness of fire. It also taught them how to prevent it from happening and to use fire extinguisher correctly. I believe everyone have gained knowledge and improved of their skills greatly from the training.
