The world keeps progress always. Our ancestors communicated by talking, then words. It extended the distance and time. After that, delivery speed was the key point for communication, deliver by people, by horse, by pigeon, by car and post office system. Bell invented telephone in 1876. It’s an important communication innovation to human being. Therefore, more and more media developed, such as telex and fax. Computer totally changes people’s life style. We could store more and more information gradually and video communication later. Again, Mobile phone appeared to let the communication get big jump about communication with no time difference. We saw there were fast change from mobile communication to video conference, instant message, social network and social video communication media. First mass production PC Apple II started in 1977. Continuous changes are not only communication media keeping progress, but also changing the lifestyle of mankind.
Whole world is placed on lockdown by COVID pandemic these 2 years. It’s difficult for the freedom flow for people now. To discuss and solve problem face to face and crowd activities are not the normal operation ways now. Smart guy always thinks the best way to solve the problems. We can use the social video media to work, to communicate, to meet friends… etc,.
To consider the life changed by social video media these two years by following.
Work from home: Except personal workshop, it’s impossible to work from home before. Fantastically, many people work from home by social video media and fast network communication now.
Online class: Many countries stopped the campus class nowadays. To take class online is also a big progress these 2 years. I think the way will keep going, then teacher can see and interactive with all of students by clear screen and sounds.
Video Conference: Truly speaking, It’s not a new technology. Before pandemic, People were used to talk and discuss problems face to face. Virus forces video conference to be the major communication way now. In the mean time, we can find the advantage of video conference, efficiency. The purpose is not only for meeting now, but also for remote control computer, problem analysis, debugging and resolving.
Long distance big group activities: Still under development. In the near future, we should have the chance to attend interactive thousands of people video concert.
Most of people are familiar with the communication media now. I would like to introduce the major communication media recently below.
Email- Earlier communication media. Still the formal media for the company talk between. But position will be replaced soon.
MSN & Skype- the instant message communication media we are familiar now. But not be used frequently as before now.
Wechat, Line, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter- Most often using instant message communication media currently.
Youtube, Spatify & Tiktok- Most often using video sharing media
Zoom, Teams, Webex, Meet & Line- Most often using video communication media. Expect to become major communication mode by people as soon as bandwidth enough and network speed faster.
PSI is a full processed EMS factory. We have 2 plants in Taipei and 1 plant in Shenzhen. Communication is extremely important among customers, vendors and us. We are glad to see the mature of remote video communication media. It solved so many communication gaps and found the answer of problems quickly. We got so many advantages from the media and hope more customers and vendors know the media to create faster & efficient cooperation.
