The trip to Xiaoliuqiu and the South Taiwan for two nights and three days was full of surprises and touches from the first stop. Whether it was the natural scenery, marine activities, gourmet experience, or comfortable accommodation, every circumstance was unforgettable.
On the first day, we took a boat from Donggang to Xiaoliuqiu, and we felt the strong island atmosphere as soon as we got off the boat. The Bacun Resort we stayed in was warm and comfortable, the rooms were clean and bright, and the friendly owner enthusiastically introduced the local ways of playing. The daytime itinerary included a glass boat experience. Looking out from the transparent glass at the bottom of the boat, one can clearly see the corals and tropical fish on the seabed, and occasionally sea turtles swimming by, which was very healing. In the evening, you can take a motorcycle tour to Xiaoliuqiu and enjoy the starry sky and the sound of waves along the way, which is a unique experience.
The next morning, we took part in a snorkeling trip, which was one of the most unforgettable experiences of the trip. After going into the water under the guidance of the coach, we soon saw cute turtles swimming around us. They were not afraid of people, but approached us curiously, making us so excited that we forgot the salty taste of the sea water. We chose local snacks for lunch, and returned to Donggang for dinner to feast on seafood. Donggang’s seafood is indeed as good as its reputation, fresh and affordable. Whether it’s the Bluefin Tuna sashimi or the grilled oysters, they are all satisfying.
We drove to Kaohsiung in the evening and checked into the Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel. The room had an excellent view and overlooked the night view of Kaohsiung. The hotel has complete facilities and the service is also very good. The next day, we chose their famous buffet for breakfast. It had a wide variety of dishes and high quality. Both the Chinese hot food and the Western bread and desserts were excellent and very satisfying.
On the third day, we headed north to Chiayi and made a special trip to the CPP Restaurant to taste the famous beer duck. The duck meat is tender and tasty, and goes really well with rice when paired with the slightly bitter beer broth and handmade noodles. After the meal, we also visited the Caucasian Toothpaste Factory. Although it is a toothpaste factory, it is arranged like a small theme park, with an exhibition hall, a photo area, and a toothpaste DIY experience. It is both educational and entertaining, and surprisingly interesting and good for taking photos.
Although the trip for two nights and three days had a tight schedule, it was rich and fulfilling. From the sea turtles and snorkeling in Xiaoliuqiu, the seafood in Donggang, the five-star enjoyment in Kaohsiung, to the local cuisine and creative sightseeing in Chiayi, each stop has its own characteristics. This trip is not only about relaxation and enjoyment, but also allows people to rediscover the passion and charm of southern Taiwan. It is definitely worth a second visit.
