What is the core value of PSI
Every corporation needs to have its own core value, whether it is physical or spiritual. PSI has worked in the field of EMS for more than a decade. We have been trying to shape our core value and introduce the distinctive culture of PSI to our partners. I would like to introduce our philosophy to you as below.
1. Personality
- Service oriented thinking
PSI is an EMS company. What we sell is manufacturing services. During our communication with the customer, one of the important attitudes is to think from the customer’s side and see what the customer’s demand is. First we figure out why the customer makes certain proposals, and then we provide the best solution which leads to a win-win situation for both sides.
- To cover the jobs which are not the customer’s business focus
Every company has its business focus. However, in addition to the major parts of the business, there are many trivial jobs need to be done. The object of PSI is to do the tasks that are not the customer’s focus. For the purpose, PSI does some featured services other than productions, such as ID design, Mechanical design, Mold made, Packing design, Regulatory application Test solution designation, Warehouse management, Customization rework Drop shipping for customers, etc.
- Preparatory works in advance
It’s tougher to do business nowadays because the product lifecycle becomes shorter and shorter. The time for product launch and production is also shortened. An important factor for successful promotion and competition of products is to think about and solve problems before the stages of product development and production. PSI has many experiences in the low-volume high-mix field. We know how to think ahead to prepare in advance, and to cut back on the time cost for product development and production.
- Facing all of the problems honestly
Normally, there is no applause for the factory production. It’s natural for factories to have smooth production and shipping. But no one can ensure people always do 100% right things. It’s the time to test the team’s wisdom for crisis management. Frankly speaking, PSI makes errors every month. We certainly face and correct the faults with integrity. Lowering the damage of errors is our target.
2. Wisdom
- Automation for the information system
A lot of trivial information and documents need to be organized under low-volume high-mix production. Therefore, the possibility of making errors is higher than other ways. To prevent these errors, firms always build a complex review system. However, it means more personnel cost and longer time for production. PSI creates an automatic transfer system to solve these issues, and to transfer the customer’s information to PSI’s information system automatically. The system transfers the data from the customer’s orders, technical information, BOMs and production scheduling. When the routine is done by computer, people, with their expertise, can spend more time on the fine-tuning works, which cannot be done by the computer.
- Operation system as clock gears
Like clock gears, to create an efficient operation the team should unite all of the operation units precisely. Before the process of production, the owner figures out the requirements and gets well prepared for everything. When the assistance from other teams is needed, the owner pushes and makes sure of getting all of the necessity on time. After 5 years, the system now works perfectly. The teams in PSI are well organized.
3. Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of electronic products
To be a member of electronic industries, PSI’s staff should be familiar with the products as its customers do. There are many different products in the world. PSI’s staff cannot be familiar with all of them. However, the staff must acquire the knowledge of the product approached, which ensures that the product position and the related key issues are fully understood during communications with customers.
- Familiar with the customer’s operations
As I mentioned before, EMS is one part of the whole supply chain. When an EMS company needs to communicate with customers or vendors, we must have the knowledge of the whole supply chain. Only through this can we have common language with our customers and gain the competence to do things.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ERP cycles
ERP is an important system for the company’s operation. Different company has different ERP process. As a mediating agent between the development, the partial manufacturing, and the marketing, PSI must understand how different ERP processes work. Then PSI makes optimal adjustments to reach efficient cooperation.
4. Understanding
- Listening skills
People sometimes lose trust in each other because of misunderstanding and sometimes become good partners because of good communication. Training ourselves to understand thoughts from different viewpoints is the only way to be identified by others. As a multi windows EMS company, PSI has several people to communicate with customers. Having good listening skills is important for its staff. We always train our staff through staff meetings and some project meetings. Everyone should have the capability to understand the presentations.
- Speaking skills
The opposite of listening is speaking. Normally, we talk every day. Everyone have the capability to talk. But it is not easy to express our ideas quickly and clearly. In modern society we don’t have as much time to talk about things as in agricultural era. PSI also has some ways to train its staff for speaking skills. Different teams should present a dedicated subject for about 1 hour at different meetings. During the speaking, the staff thinks about how to express his/her opinions quickly and clearly. We try to let the customer see our competence and fully understand our thoughts from the efficient speaking.
5. Communion with customer
- Supply chain
A bicycle cannot function well if the chain is broken. The relation between EMS and its customer is similar to the bicycle chain: they are closely connected in the same chain. To let the whole business circle work perfect, EMS factory is connected with its customers. PSI plays a role in the supply chain. We always stay in close contact with customers and vendors through various reports and automatic systems.
- Enjoying the “fruits of growing” together
Every company tries to grow up with time. PSI does the same thing. We always set the next year’s plans and goals by the end of the year. We expect ourselves to make progress every year. We offer thorough and professional services to customers. And as the customers grow up, PSI also makes progress and provides the correspondent services they need.
6. Conclusion
We feel tired when we work for a long time. A System “grows old” and becomes more and more “rigid” with time too. To be good a company should think about and create its core value. Through the core value, the company can do business forever, no matter how the time changes. PSI has been working for more than a decade and has developed its own core culture. We will examine this core system and make adjustments to it ceaselessly and help PSI walk through more decades.
